What part of your look or body have YOU been fighting against your whole life? How much of your time, your energy, and your HAPPINESS have been tossed to the wind in a quest to be what someone else imagines a perfect woman or man should look like?
From the time I was a teenager until my 50s, I did my best to create the perfect arched eyebrow. It never looked right.
One day as I was drawing on those “ideal” brows from the magazines and movies of my youth, I took a close look at my face. My brows were naturally straight. No wonder they resisted being drawn like the curve of a rainbow!
But it wasn’t until the 21st century that women began showing themselves in public—and on the cover of fashion magazines—with straight eyebrows. Full eyebrows. All types of eyebrows, not just that elusive curve!
Once I started following the natural line of my brow, guess what? It finally looked right. And it was a heck of a lot easier to do, too!
Of course, be healthy. Eat well. Exercise. But also love what you have, who you are, and how you are. Happiness comes from embracing what IS and letting go of what ISN’T. These are the kinds of things a coach can help you with.
Try this: On a piece of paper, write down anything you can think of that you’ve never really liked about your appearance.
Go ahead, get it all out. Maybe it’s just one thing. Maybe it’s a long list. Maybe it’s something a partner didn’t like about you, or a “friend,” or even a parent.
Now write the words, “I love ____” in front of every single thing you thought of. “I love my straight eyebrows.” “I love my flat butt.” “I love the wattles on my arms.”
My friends, your love of yourself is the first step toward happiness. Embrace who you are as if you designed yourself that way on purpose!
